Some of Cody Coughlin’s favorite things to do include riding horses and racing automobiles. Fortunately for Coughlin, he’ll get to do both of those things this weekend in the Lone Star State when he heads to the Texas Motor Speedway for the JAG Metals 350 for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
When Coughlin isn’t racing, he can usually be found in the family’s barn on their property in Delaware, Ohio with Chex, Cinderella and Bonnie, the Coughlin family horses. That has made Coughlin a perfect fit with Texas-based sponsor RIDE TV, a television channel dedicated to the equestrian lifestyle.
On Friday, Coughlin will be using a little bit more horsepower when he straps in behind the wheel of his No. 13 JEGS.com/RIDE TV Toyota Tundra for ThorSport Racing at the Texas Motor Speedway, which is one of Coughlin’s favorite tracks on the whole NASCAR schedule.
“I’ve liked Texas since the first time I’ve raced there because we always seem to run pretty well there,” said Coughlin. “Now that they’ve repaved and reconfigured the track a bit it definitely has a whole new set of challenges, but I still really enjoy it.”
One of Coughlin’s favorite things about racing in Texas is that he gets to see some of his extended family members. Coughlin heads down a few days early to get in some quality family time, with some family members that he doesn’t get to see too often.
“It’s always great to be able to get to see my family down there. That’s a big part of why I look forward to racing in Texas so much. We relax a little bit and then they get to come watch me race, which they don’t get to do anywhere else. We all greatly enjoy it.”
Before Coughlin hits the track on Thursday November 2, Coughlin will be taking part in Toyota Motorsports Day at the all-new Toyota Motors North America headquarters in Plano, Texas. In fact, in addition to touring the facility, the Ohio native will also be signing autographs for Toyota employees.
Coughlin will hit the track at Texas Motor Speedway for the first time this weekend on Thursday at 2 p.m. CT for first practice. Final practice will begin at 4 p.m. CT.
Friday, November 3 is JAG Metals 350 race day at Texas Motor Speedway. The day will begin with qualifying at 3 p.m. CT live on FOX Sports 1. The JAG Metals 350 will see the green flag wave at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT live on FS1.
Friday’s race is 147 laps for a total of 220.5 miles. The event is broken down into three stages. The first stage will end on lap 35. The second stage will end on lap 70, and the final stage will end on lap 140 unless NASCAR Overtime is required.
