The month of October is a special, but emotional time for the NASCAR driver Cody Coughlin and his family. Like most families, the Coughlin family has suffered losses due to the horrible disease of cancer. That has led the Coughlin family to do something extraordinary in the hopes of one day finding a cure for cancer. The Coughlin family, through the JEGS Foundation, has donated $10 million to the The Ohio State University Foundation for cancer treatment and research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center in Columbus, Ohio.
The Coughlin family will continue to strive for a cure through Coughlin’s driving exploits at the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Virginia’s Martinsville Speedway on Saturday, October 28th. Coughlin and his Ohio-based ThorSport Racing team will run a special paint scheme on his JEGS.com/RIDE TV Toyota Tundra designed to raise cancer awareness and funds for cancer research through the JEGS Foundation.
The 21-year-old Ohio driver and his family recently attended an event at the Worthington Christian High School in Ohio to raise awareness. Each October for the past few years, Cody delivers care-packages to cancer survivors, those fighting cancer and their family members.
“My parents, John and Di, raised me to want to help others, even in small ways. God has blessed us in so many ways, so we try to give back where we can. This is a cause that is near and dear to our hearts, so we do what we can to help out. I’m looking forward to our race at Martinsville with our specially-designed truck. I’m excited for when we reveal it. Hopefully our fans will be inspired to help out in any small way.”
The JEGS Foundation motto is “Racing for Awareness.” Cody Coughlin will be living that motto on October 28th at Martinsville Speedway.
Cody Coughlin and the whole Coughlin family ask that you help out in any small way. You can donate to the JEGS Foundation to help in the race against cancer by clicking here.
