Cody Coughlin’s quest for the ARCA/CRA Super Series championship continues on Wednesday night when he rolls into Kalamazoo, Michigan for the Kalamazoo Klash 125.  Coughlin has never raced at the Kalamazoo Speedway before, but he’s already seen success at new places this year.

“I’d never raced Baer Field before and we won there, so I’m excited for this challenge,” Coughlin said.  “I think we’ll have a great shot at another win on Wednesday night.  I know Kalamazoo is a fast, but small race track.  We just need to keep the fenders on it and keep doing what we’ve been doing and we’ll be strong.”

The 20-year-old Delaware, Ohio driver enters Kalamazoo with momentum on his side.  Coughlin had a gutsy third-place finish in the most recent JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour race at Spitzer Motor Speedway, and he scored the win in the race prior to that one at Anderson Speedway.

Coughlin, the leader in both CRA touring series points standings, is hoping to parlay that momentum into another strong run on Wednesday night to extend his 15-point lead.

“We have fast cars seemingly everywhere we go,” Coughlin said.  “We have momentum on our side again, so I’m excited to see what we can do this week.”

Kalamazoo is the first of two races for the Joe Gibbs Racing Development driver this week.  After Kalamazoo is through, Coughlin will head about an hour and a half up the road to Auto City Speedway for Saturday’s Pro Late Model race.

“I’m looking forward to the busy week,” said Coughlin.  “The last busy week I had ended with a win, so hopefully we can do the same again here.  I know that my guys will give me another great race car like always.  Jack (Smith, crew chief), Kevin (Hamlin, team manager), Scott (Spotter) and Dave (Holt, crew member) all work so hard and I can’t thank them enough.

“I’m also so thankful to have my family with me at the track every week also.  My parents (Di and John) are the best, and my sister Kennedi is so supportive.  I’m very blessed to have them all.”

Coughlin’s week will begin with practice for the Kalamazoo Klash 125 on Tuesday, August 9 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. He will also have practice on race day, August 10, beginning at 1:30 p.m. ET. Qualifying will take place at 4 p.m. with racing set to follow at 7 p.m. ET.
